New Employee Essentials
Welcome to Aquinas!
The ITS Help Desk is available to help you with your technology concerns, Aquinas
College Network Access, application support, hardware support, etc.
The links provided below are intended to assist New Employees of ÂÌñÒùÆÞ in
locating information, services, and technology provided by ITS.
Network Access for New Employees
All Aquinas faculty and staff are eligible for network access. The standard Windows
account includes:
- access to numerous Windows-based applications
- an e-mail account
- access to the Internet
The requirements are as follows:
Full-Time Faculty & Full/Part-Time Staff:
The requested access must come from the employee's supervisor (or department chair).
The employee's supervisor (or department chair) must submit an to ITS to indicate and authorize what the network access requirements are. An important
detail to remember to specify is if the employee is authorized to access the department's
G-drive.
The employee must be authorized by Human Resources. ITS must receive authorization
that the person is covered under one of the code of conduct handbooks (faculty or
staff). Full-time faculty and full- and part-time staff are authorized by the Human
Resources (HR) department.
Part-Time (Adjunct) Faculty
The authorization for part-time (adjunct) faculty must be approved by the Academic
Affairs office. New faculty can ask either the Academic Affairs office or their department
chair to initiate the process by submitting an to ITS. If the adjunct will require access to department-specific data (such as a
departmental G-drive), then an access request form must be sent to ITS by the adjunct's
departmental chair/supervisor authorizing such access.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authentication, or MFA, is a security measure used to protect digital
accounts and systems from unauthorized access. MFA requires users to provide two or
more forms of identification to verify their identity before they can access a system
or account. By requiring multiple factors for authentication, MFA makes it much more
difficult for attackers to gain access to an account or system using stolen or guessed
passwords alone. MFA is widely used in online banking, social media, email, and other
online services to help prevent unauthorized access and protect user data. Aquinas
uses a tool from Cisco called DUO, which applies to Google G Suite for Education (Gmail
and Google Drive). For step-by-step instructions, please visit
Everyone using the ÂÌñÒùÆÞ network will be required to agree to the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) each time they login. Use of the ÂÌñÒùÆÞ network constitutes agreement with the Acceptable Use Policy, and the user accepts responsibility of all use of their account. Any violation of the terms of the AUP may result in revocation of access, disciplinary action, and/or legal action. >View the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
