Student Learning Opportunities

 

Friends of Art fund student experiences. They lead gallery chats as docents trained by the Grand Rapids Art Museum, get memberships to Frederik Meijer Gardens and the Grand Rapids Art Museum, they also take an annual trip to Chicago to explore more museums and galleries.Learn More about the Art Department

The Grace Hauenstein Library Art Gallery and Study Space

 

This gallery, located in the bustling campus library hosts annually rotating exhibits. It opened in 2023 with an inagural exhibit featuring work by Françoise Gilot.  Visit the Gallery

Conservation Work

 

Our faculty work hard to maintain the art we have on campus. Art faculty Nathan Lareau and Jamie Limbers cleaned and repainted the weathered sculpture Quartet  by faculty emeriti Ron and Miriam Pederson. Additional projects include work on the bust of St. Thomas Aquinas by Sister Phyllis Mronzinki.

AMC Gallery Exhibitions

 

Aquinas opens four to six exhibitions per year in the AMC Gallery under the direction of Art Professor and Department Chair Dana Freeman. These galleries are free and open to the public. Exhibitions feature work by students, faculty, alumni, and more.Visit the Gallery
