What is Service Learning?

"A form of experiential education in which students engage in activities that address human and community needs together with structured opportunities intentionally designed to promote student learning and development" -B. Jacoby

Service Learning engages students in civic responsibility, critical thinking, and structured reflection by actively involving them in organized community service. This, in turn, prepares students for a lifetime of personal growth and social responsibility.

AQ Service Learning trips allow students to put their faith into action and practice the Dominican charisms of prayer, study, community and service.

My experience opened my eyes to issues of social justice that I had not thought about before. I also learned a lot about myself from being out of my comfort zone.

My life has new purpose. I feel refreshed and renewed. I want to live my life differently now because I see everything that we take for granted here in the U.S.
